Cydia has provided a GUI (graphical user interface) to jailbroken users using APT (Advanced Packaging Tool) repositories to install software that is unfortunately unavailable on the App Store. However, here you need to know that some of the software packages available through Cydia are free of cost while some are not.

List of Cydia Repositories

If you want to know more about Cydia then to your amazed, there are quite a few Cydia Repositories, which you can consider. The details are as follows:

Fixing Repo’s in Cydia

The biggest and maintained cydia source is BigBoss source. It has been a very popular source containing a lot of ringtones, themes, sounds, wallpapers, and games.

It is also considered a famous source for downloading and installing most of free cydia applications. Repositories like Telesphoreo Tangelo, ModMyi, BigBoss and ZodTTD are pre-installed with Cydia and follow a different APT structure. The best part is that we can also add repos manually to access the content.

However, it is impossible to delete and add again these repos because of the reason that they have different branches, source builds, user permissions, etc. Moreover, we will not be able to access a large jailbreak’s community content especially if one of our key repos will be corrupted.

Keep in mind that something may go wrong if someone jailbreaks his iPhone. Moreover, while breaking one of the four main repos in one’s version of Cydia, there is also a possibility of hassle via SSH. Thus, checking the icon of repo is the good way of finding a broken repo link. We can see either a specific icon for each repo or a question mark, while looking into the list of repos. If we see question mark, it is usually indicating towards either the corrupted or the empty repo.

Do no forget that when in the sources list, repo is tapped, it will display its content if it is not broken, while no content will be displayed by a broken repo. As these repos are pre-installed, they cannot be added again like normal repo if they will be broken. Thus, one has to consider iPhone’s file structure through desktop SSH.

iPhone explorer is recommended desktop SSH and to access this, you can consider the following steps:

Step1: The first step is to select the option ‘root’ from where you can select the option ‘private’. Click ‘private’ option and then select etc. After this, you have to select ‘apt’ and you will get the ‘sources.list.d’.

Step 2: In the second step, the user is replacing repo. The user here has to add the .list file for the repo, which he is actually trying to replace. The user can also make his .list file. For this, you have to open TextEdit (Mac OS X) or Notepad (Windows). Once it will be opened then the next step is to copy the followings in order to complete the procedure:

  • Do not edit this file to add your own custom sources
  • This file is subject to be upgraded as part of a package
  • Either add your own .list file to /etc/apt/sources.list.d
  • Or add your entry to the global /etc/apt/sources.list file

After this, replace the URL with the repo URL you need to fix.

Step 3: Once it will be done then save the file on your desktop as .list.

Step 4: Now you can add your newly created .list file to the sources.list.d folder.

Do not forget to delete the pre-existing copied .list files before creating your new version.

Step 5: Respiring your iPhone!

This final step is all about configuring your iPhone. By using this method, the iPhone can be brought back to the working condition and the repo(s) will get fixed. If you do not succeed, then you can also try adding ModMyi or BigBoss repo under the Telesphoreo Tangelo source list, as it is one of the best ways to restoring the gadget.
