The first rule of success with blogging is to blog often and stay relevant. People want current events and useful information. If your blog doesn’t provide that, they’ll go elsewhere. The average blog posts 5-10 times per week. If you can’t keep up with this, you won’t be able to keep people’s attention. If you keep your blogs brief, people will be more likely to stick around and come back in the future. Aim for less than 500 words, and never waste space trying to meet an arbitrary word count. Not only is that a waste of your time, but people don’t want fluff and filler so it’s a waste of content, as well. Stick to the facts and get to the point.

Being a successful blogger isn’t difficult, but you’re competing with millions of other blogs. Therefore, you’ve got to know the game and how to get the best results, no matter what that means. Make sure that you stay current on trends and tactics for blog success and you’ll be able to compete with the big boys in no time at all.
