5 iPhone Apps for the Frugalist in You

You Are Here

When you own an iPhone, one of the attractive features is the ability to download iPhone apps from the App Store and increase the functionality of your device. While most of the iPhone apps on the store are for entertainment purposes, some of them can actually save you cold, hard cash. These iPhone apps can help you indulge your frugalist nature, while still having a good time with your iPhone.

1. Groupon

Groupon is an app that you can download for free which will provide you with access to some of the best deals in your area. There are several other services like this, but Groupon is one of the first and they have some of the best money-saving deals out there. The basic idea behind Groupon is that they negotiate special deals for all of their members with local merchants. Then they post those deals to the app and users have a chance to buy the deals. Typically, the deal will save you at least 50 percent compared to the normal price of the items.

You usually can only buy the deal for a certain amount of time before it expires or until the number of deals available runs out. You pay for the item with a saved payment method and then get access to the deal at a later time. They really do offer ways to save money on the things you like in your area. Groupon is a free iPhone app to download.

2. eBay

The eBay app is another one that can potentially save you money on many of the things that you buy. With this app, you get easy access to the eBay auction site. Regardless of what you need to buy, you should be able to find it on eBay. If you can get in on an auction that does not have very many bidders, you may be able to buy the item for less than what you would normally pay. The eBay app uses the same user account information that you use with your regular eBay account.

If you’re familiar with how eBay works and you like to save money, this is a must-have app for your iPhone. This app doesn’t even cost anything to download.

3. Skype

The Skype app on the iPhone has the potential to save you a large amount of money and give you access to your contacts at any time of day or night. The app is free to download from the App Store. With the Skype app, you can essentially make free phone calls as long as you have an Internet connection. For example, if you are at home and you have a Wi-Fi network set up, you can make free phone calls on your phone to other users with the Skype app.

This app also makes it possible for you to engage in video calling and instant messaging with your Skype contacts. If you need to make calls to someone who doesn’t have Skype, you can also make phone calls to regular phone numbers. If you make a lot of phone calls, this app has the potential to completely eliminate your long distance phone bill.

4. BillMinder

BillMinder is the perfect app for those who have a hard time remembering when to pay their bills. If you have many different bills coming in at various times throughout the month, this app can send you a reminder when it is time to pay a specific bill.

It even keeps track of the various amounts for each one of your bills, so that you can see an easy snapshot of what bills are available and how much will be coming out of your account. This app costs $1.99 to download from the App Store..

5. Save It!

Save It! is a budgeting app that makes it easy to keep track of your spending and your budgeting needs. This app costs $2.99 on the App Store, but it will usually pay for itself by helping you stick to a budget. It helps you by letting you visually see where your money is going.
