The original HTC One was one of the best smartphones of 2013 and now HTC took everything that lured the eyes of the user and reinvented a newer version of the One. Let’s look at some specifications of HTC One (M8).

Design

The HTC has never disappointed its customers with the design. The new HTC One (M8) is sleeker than the M7. Just a quick glance can lure the heart of the customer and its more of a metal phone. More of gray color enhances the design of the phone and Gunmetal Gray paint job with a brushed aluminum finish which contrasts nicely with the matte black HTC logo on the phone’s rear pane.

M8 has a unibody aluminum frame and rear panel now wraps completely around the handset, from glass-to-glass. The alteration changes the look of the M8 and it seems to be more round in appearance and also a bit slippery. There is no change in thickness and resembles same as that of M7. The phone is also available in three variants namely, Metal Grey, Arctic Silver and Amber Gold.

The Power button is repositioned to the top of the device and same is with the case of IR blasters. Power button is shifted to the right hand side and the IR blasters are no longer combined with the power button, and instead housed behind a plastic band. The repositioning of the power button has made the customers access the same easily with their thumb. Same is with the case of volume rockers. The volume rocker is placed on the phones right edge which makes the pressing easier.

A micro USB 2.0 port supporting Qualcomm’s QuickCharge 2.0 technology, a headphone socket, and the SIM card slot is located on the bottom of the device. The 2014 One M8 uses nano-SIM card to save inner space, and with a possibility of dual SIM models in future ahead.

Display

The HTC One’s 5-inch Super LCD 3 display enhances its stunning visuals. The user point of view elements such ashome screen wallpaper and app icons are more vibrant, exuberant and pleasing.

The display colors are more vibrant and stand apart high for other hues. At 368 nits, the HTC One M8’s display is brighter than the average smartphone, which reached just 328 nits. Altogether a slim smartphone with larger display and more ease to the eyes.

Audio

No competitions here and the new HTC One’s front-facing Boom Sound speakers are believed to be the best sounding smartphone speakers in the world. HTC claims that the new One’s speakers’ are louder than M7, which converts into more effective dynamic-sounding audio. It should also be noted that the M8 does not use that same Beats Audio engine as that of M7, and so that only it produces good sound clarity and quality to the user.

At 83 decibels, the HTC M8 One’s speakers are measurably louder than the original One’s, which reaches just 81 db. The front facing speakers along with supported software makes the listening more pleasurable and it truly changes the way you experience music, videos and other entertainments.

Interface

The interface of the new m8 is same as that of its older version. The One M8 comes with HTC’s Sense 6.0 UI and it uses the latest version of Android 4.4.2 Kitkat. So eventually the phone works faster than ever.

The fonts are given a polished and newer look and Sense 6.0 gives it a new color coding motif, which enhances certain proprietary apps specific colors based on their function. Entertainment apps are given an orange banner while productivity apps are mirrored with a blue color.

Themes can be customized by selecting one of four available home screen wallpaper themes. Default home screen features weather and time widget on the top, Google Now search bar, Verizon and Google apps folders, and shortcuts for Mail and Play Store are at the bottom. The omnipresent shortcuts to the Camera apps,Phone, Messages, Apps Drawer, and Chrome are showed at the bottom of the phone.

These are actually the lock screen apps and they remain on the lock screen display always paving no way to customize. The One M8’s notification menu is suggestively improved over the M7’s. You now get access to twenty one quick settings rather than the eight offered by the M7. You can edit which of these should appear on the notifications screen, including NFC, Media Output, data roaming, brightness, mobile hotspot etc.

Motion Launch

This is a new addition to the M8.The Motion Launch detects you pick up the phone and lets you double-tap the screen to unlock. You can swipe in from the right to go right to the home screen and swipe in from the left to unlock to BlinkFeed. Swiping your finger up you can directly view the most recently used app.

Swiping down from the top unlocks to voice calling, and turn the phone to portrait mode and press the up volume button to unlock to the Camera app. Please note that if security is enabled you’ll have to unlock it before performing one of the above actions.

Camera

The dual-lens Duo Camera not only captures 3D-like images, but also you can alter the focus of your photo after you’ve taken it. The M8’s larger camera serves as the main shooter. Apart from the main camera there is a second camera with 2-megapixel depth of field sensor located directly above the main camera as a part of the device’s “Duo Camera” system. In daylight, the HTC One captured beautiful images.

HTC has featured the One M8 with a 5-megapixel front shooter which benefits people who loves to take selfies. That’s far better than the 2.1-MP camera on the One M7, and the difference in quality shows that photos taken with One M8 are more sharp and colorful, than photos taken from M7.

Battery Life

When compared to M7’s 2,300 mAh pack, the M8 shows a 2,600 mAh battery life. The new One lasts for nearly 10 hours. HTC claims that it will release a downloadable enhanced power-saver mode that will help the phone last up to 10 days on standby mode. The feature can be done only by allowing manual access to wireless data.

These are some of the important features of HTC’s new One M8. The features are so much innovative that it captures the users mind. The gorgeous design and the beautiful display is sure to increase the demand of this new smartphone in market.
