You Are Here

Some days before I received a mail from xmarks support team that Xmarks will be shutting down their free browser synchronization services on January 10, 2011.

We all know that Xmarks is the online web service which provides bookmark synchronization, search enhancement and web discovery based on sites bookmarked by users. Their main functionality is to synchronize and share bookmarks saved.  But now this service will be unavailable after some months, and so I compiled a list of 5 best alternatives to Xmarks.

1. Delicious

Delicious is the social bookmarking service that allows you to save links, post link and access them from any computer or browser. Bookmarklets as well as plug-ins are available for most of the browsers.

2. Google Bookmarks

Google Bookmarks let you access your saved Bookmarks on any computer, and you can use  the lists to share them with friends. You can simply access all your saved bookmarks from any computer by signing in to your Gmail  account. The bookmarks are searchable. You can integrate google bookmarks with Firefox and Chrome browsers.

3. Firefox Sync

Firefox Sync is the free browser add-on that lets you stay in sync with your Firefox. You can easily access your history, passwords, bookmarks and even open tabs across all your devices.

4. Evernote

Evernote is a service which allows to create notes, save a web page, take a picture or make a screenshot and everything is saved on your computer, the Web or phone. A Note can be anything like your saved webpage  a photograph, a voice memo and so on.

5. Read It Later

With Read It Later you can save web pages, bookmarks to read them later.  It Eliminate cluttering of bookmarks with sites that are merely of a one-time interest. Read It Later is a tool that lets you synchronize your bookmarks to create a playlist.

Xmarks is the best service no doubt, but you can use above services to save your bookmarks.  If you know  some other services  then let us know via comment below.
