Actuators are motors that create linear motion in a mechanical system and provide support to the system concerning interaction with the environment. Common actuators are the track 12v actuators, which like other actuators have four basic parts to function properly; the nut, motor, sliding tube, and the fixed cover.

The most important part of an actuator is the motor which causes the sliding tube and the nut, within the cover, to extend or withdraw. Rhythm and consistency are maintained by the action of software, which controls the actuator. The electric power used by any given actuator is very crucial in predicting or evaluating the necessities of that particular actuator.

Important considerations like speed and load are key aspects in determining the amount of power generated by the actuator. In comparison with other machines like hydraulic pumps actuators are energy efficient compared to the pumps, electro-mechanical actuators require less maintenance compared to these pumps too. Similarly, accuracy and preciseness are achieved by use of actuator since software controls them.

As much as motors are used for circular motion, the transformation of the circular motion to linear helps in tapping their power. Industrial application of actuators depends on the need of the application regarding precision, accuracy, speed, and power use. Applications of the actuator range from the construction industry to the healthcare industry.

Hospital adjusting stretchers, surgical procedural tables, beds and most wheelchairs apply actuators to create the required linear motion. Other instances of applications in the sector include the construction sector which uses motors to lift loads, raise a staircase, and also to open doors. Industrial applications include the use of actuators in lawn mowers, sweeping machines to adjust the accumulated pressure in between the brush and the floor.

In the agricultural sector, actuators are used in regulating seed amount for a particular area, spreading the flow of fertilizers and regulation of the required angle of spreading the fertilizer among other purposes. Actuators are also used in other general applications like submarines to adjust structures such as doors.

Trucks also use actuators to tilt the cabins and adjust inbuilt spoilers. Lastly, they are employed in daily applications like traffic lights, floor cleaners, raising flat screens at home and in commercial vehicles such as buses.
