Google Honours Keith Haring with A Doodle on 54th Birthday

Today Google is celebrating 54th Birthday of Famous artist and social activist, Keith Haring by replacing its traditional Google logo with a with an interactive homepage doodle in the memory of the great personality. A mouse-over over the Doodle  reveals that it is meant to celebrate Keith Haring‘s 54th Birthday and on clicking will lead to a search page searching for the name of this great personality.

Most artists have their own signature style and Keith was no different. His signature style comprised of bold lines, vivid colors, and active figures that sent across strong messages of life and unity.  His most famous work is ‘The Radiant Baby’, which later also became his symbol.

Keith Haring was born on May 4, 1958. He was an artist and social activist whose work responded to the New York City street culture of the 1980s. Keith Haring developed a passion for drawing at a very small age. He learned basic cartooning skills from his father. From 1976 to 1978 he studied commercial art, but he soon lost interest and moved to study Fine Arts. Later, he gone to live in New york and enrolled himself in the School of Visual Arts.

In Bbtween 1980 and 1989, Keith achieved recognition at international level and took part in numerous exhibitions. Throughout his career, he devoted a lot of time to public works, which often carried social messages.  In 1988, Haring was diagnosed with AIDS. In 1989, he established the Keith Haring Foundation with a view to offer funding and imagery to AIDS organizations and children’s programs, and also to expand the target audience for his work through expositions. Haring died in the age of 31 on February 16, 1990.
