Get More Smileys for Facebook with Emoinstaller

You Are Here

Facebook Chat has over 300 million users who send over 120 billion messages a month and, until recently, those messages have been largely bereft of expression. While Facebook Chat does support a range of native emoticons, it’s a very limited range and on top of that, you have to be an experienced user to know the right text code to type in. Happily, you can now pimp up your chat and dazzle your friends with the help of Emoinstaller.

Emoinstaller is a free Windows application which provides you with a vast library of high quality Facebook Chat emoticons to use during your conversations. Developed by Athena IT Limited, the makers of Chit Chat for Facebook, Emoinstaller is fully integrated with Facebook Chat and incredibly easy to use. It supports multiple browsers (Internet Explorer, Firefox and Chrome), has a clean and effective interface design and allows you to add emoticons to your Facebook chat messages at the click of a button.

The next generation of Facebook smileys

Emoinstaller provides you with over 900 HD-quality emoticons of all types (still and animated) and sizes (small, medium and large). The plethora of categories to choose from include School Days, Sport, Music, Words, Faces, Animals, Bad Girls, Bad Boys, Love, War, Christmas and Halloween.

Before long, you will be peppering your chat with personality. With such a wide range of choice, there’s something in there for everyone. In fact, there’s probably more in there than you will ever need to get your Facebook messages noticed. Whether you are looking for a befuddled gangster, a pink-haired angel, an enthusiastic scuba-diver or an animated orange, you will find it in the Emoinstaller library.

Easy to install and use

Emoinstaller is installed in few easy steps:

  • Download the installation program from
  • Close your browser(s)
  • Run the installation program and follow the instructions for set-up (for details of the steps followed during installation, see

That’s all you have to do. As the application is automatically integrated into your Facebook Chat, the next time you are on Facebook and you open a chat window, you will see a cute little monkey face icon in the bottom left corner. The monkey is Emo, he’s the application’s mascot and he represents a fun and easy way to add personal expression to your conversations. Just click on Emo to open the application and access those nifty smileys.

The application has a clutter-free interface which is very simple to navigate. Facebook emoticons are divided by size (shown along the top of the application window) and category (listed down the left hand side of the window). This means you can quickly find what you’re looking for, whether it’s a meaningful smile for a special occasion or what you think could be your personal favourite emoticon, if only you could be sure you’d seen them all. Instead of frantically trying to remember a list of obscure text codes, you’ll be back to your conversation in no time at all, and your friend will be able to ‘see’ how you feel.

The main inconvenience with Emoinstaller – and other, similar applications – is that, in order to share this voluminous array of emoticons with your friends, they also need to have the application installed. It’s not much of an inconvenience though, since all you have to do is tell your friends about the application and where to find it; and they can be up and running in under 5 minutes.

Emoinstaller is also easy to remove. If you decide you don’t want to use it, just open your Control Panel, go to ‘Uninstall a program’, and you will see it in the list of programs ready to be removed. The removal process takes seconds.

Give Emo a go

Emoinstaller is a nice little program which lets you use hundreds of extra emoticons for facebook to your Facebook chat messages, and lets you do it very quickly and easily. Compared to some of the other emoticon applications out there, Emoinstaller contains rather basic functionality. However, this is version 1.0 and the addition of other Facebook-friendly features like the the ability to use smileys for wall posts and comments is planned for future versions.

In the end, you have to ask yourself what you actually want out of an emoticon plug-in: a small amount of useful features that work smoothly, or a complex, occasionally buggy interface containing a bunch of features you will probably never look at, let alone need.

Emoinstaller is also developed by Athena IT Limited who has already shown, with the success of their popular Chit Chat application, that they are capable of figuring what a Facebook user really wants, and providing it. Best of all, Emoinstaller is free, so why not try it out? Other than the time you’ll inevitably spend browsing the library for cool smileys, there’s no personal cost involved.
