You Are Here

Not only live streaming OnLive games. The company has just launched OnLive Desktop, an application for the iPhone based on the same principles of cloud computing, but instead of games takes the tablet desktop experience of Windows 7 PC like a high performance.

OL Desktop is the first and best service that provides a seamless, no-compromise, instant-response cloud-based PC desktop, wherever and whenever you want it. OnLive brings to your iPad a high-performance PC experience, regardless of the content, even when interacting with fast-action media.

Now to the point, really what can be done with it is to access Word, Excel or PowerPoint, obviously always depending on Internet connection. As shown in the video advertisement, the application allows you to use the particular characteristics of the touch screen, including keyboard skills and some gestures of the Retina. To recognize handwriting.

As for storage, a free account allows up to 2GB available for storing documents. Those who need more can register for the plan of 50GB which costs U.S. $9.99 per month and will have priority access to the service, although this does not complete me be clear because the plan at no cost is available, while the payment “coming soon”. Finally, it also mentions the possibility of adding other desktop applications to this plan, which seems logical thinking that 2GB for Office documents only seems more than enough. Audio or video editing? It could be, taking advantage of computational speed that teams should be OnLive.

OnLive Desktop Features:

  • Instantly view, edit and create documents using actual Microsoft Office Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Easily transfer files between OnLive Desktop and other devices
  • Experience high-performance, instant-response PC applications
  • Interact with lag-free animation and video

For now, OnLive Desktop is only available for the iPhone, but is expected to soon reach the Android, PC, Mac, and intelligent TV.
