Google Honours Amar Chitra Katha Creator Anant Pai With A Doodle On His 82nd Birthday

Today as a tribute and occasional citation, Google is celebrating 82nd birthday of  Anant pai by replacing its traditional Google logo with a Google Doodle in the memory of the great Amar Chitra Katha creator. A mouse-over over the Google Doodle  reveals that it is meant to celebrate ‘Anant Pai’s 82nd Birthday’ and on clicking will lead to a search page searching for the name of ‘Anant Pai’.

About Anant Pai :

Indian Comics Book creator Anant Pai was born on 17 September 1929 at Karkala, Karnataka. He was died on 24 February 2011 at age 81. He created famous comic book Amar Chitra Katha series in 1967.He also known as Uncle pai.Amar Chitra Katha, sells about three million comic books a year, in English and more than 20 Indian languages, and has sold about 100 million copies since it inception in 1967 by Anant Pai.

He was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award this month at India’s first ever Comic Convention held in New Delhi on February 19-20. He was also behind Tinkle, another famous cartoon character children magazine series in India.

Google doodles have gained much more popularity over the past few years and the Google team has put out commemorative doodles on events ranging from news events, civic milestones, birthdays, and important dates in history.

Thanks to Google for the doodle dedicated to “Uncle Anant Pai” the great educationist and real story teller.
